Ammolite is considered to be the rarest gem in the world, a product of fossilization of the Ammonites.

Amonites which were hard shelled marine creatures existed from the Palaeozoic to the end of the Cretaceous era , some 65 million years ago. Ammolite is organic gemstone mainly found in the Bearpaw extending from Alberta to Saskatchewan with the best grade quality on the eastern slopes of the rockies in southern Alberta.
