The Hindu system of astrology known as Jyotish, integral to Indian culture is part of the ancient Vedas, Hindu scriptural teachings stemming back more than 5000 years to India’s Vedic civilization. Navratna are nine gems that represent nine cosmic influences known to have karmic influences upon our existence on planet Earth bringing balance and harmony to conflicting forces in play.

The gems are Ruby, the centre, the King and Queen of Gems aligned with the Sun, the centre of the Solar System, surrounded by Diamond with Venus, natural Pearl with the Moon, Red Coral with Mars, Hessonite with Rahu, the ascending lunar node, Blue Sapphire with Saturn, Cat’s Eye with Ketu, the descending lunar node ,Yellow Sapphire with Jupiter, and Emerald with Mercury.

These chosen nine gemstones each having their own colour , wavelength and vibration, act as harmonizers to corresponding astrological bodies with vibrational influences upon our own existence. In ancient India, wearing a Navratnas meant more than being bejeweled. Royalty, in particular, those in power were never without a Navratna talisman. It was believed to have the magical “nine gem combination” protecting the wearer against evil, preventing disease, bringing wealth ,prosperity and peace while at the same time guarding one from “conflicting” planetary influences and deficiencies in ones own astrological standings.

How about  wearing a Navratna wedding piece as jewellery for the bride and groom? What a beautiful spiritual symbol of togetherness to wear on the wedding day . It is believed that by wearing a Navratna, you are aligned to the astrological bodies in the universe giving you the cosmic energy. A Navratna ring, pendant, necklace or bracelet would be a piece to cherish forever.
In ancient times there was no such thing as “conflict diamonds” or ” non conflict diamonds” simply because the nature of man then was to be in harmony and not in conflict with nature or with each other. Ancient Hindu Vedic civilization strived for man to be in harmony, to learn from the clarity of gems which were mineral deposits corresponding to the vibrations of planets in the universe. Man’s existence was never based on gems to be used as a commodity to gain power and win conflict over other men.
