The launch and success of the incredibly beautiful Jimmy Choo luxury brand of womens shoes all began in 1996. Last year Jimmy Choo Ltd reported net sales of £150m. Back in 1996 Jimmy Choo with co founder British Vogue magazine accessories editor Tamara Mellon started up the high-end shoe and accessories company Jimmy Choo Ltd.

Jimmy Choo studied to be a cordwainer at Cordwainer’s Technical College in London, one of the world’s leaders in training for cobbler and leather workers. In 2000 the Cordwainer’s College merged with the London College of Fashion and became a department, Cordwainer’s at London College of Fashion.

Recently in  May 2011, The U.K  based Jimmy Choo luxury brand of womens shoes was bought up by luxury goods group Labelux . It is said that Labelux is  owned by Germany’s billionaire Reimann family.The final deal for an undisclosed amount , is to be finalized in June of this year. Jimmy Choo had sold his interests back in 2001, while Tamara Mellon is said to continue with Labelux as her current job role of chief creative officer.

Jimmy Choo’s contribution to Footwear design and the fashion industry both globally and in the United Kingdom, has been recognized by being conferred an Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II.
