The art form Digitalism , is a contemporary form of artistic expression which utilizes technology and the digital world as a medium . I thought it would be particularly timely this month to feature the comedian Chelsea Handler in my Pop Art series at The Digitalism Art Studio especially with Jay Leno recently signing off the Tonight Show for the Jimmy Fallon changeover. It is indeed an historic “digital moment” in late night comedy as Jimmy Fallon from the younger mainstream generation takes over the older mainstream generation.

However when it comes to pop culture and late night comedy TV, comedian and actress Chelsea Handler seems to be the lead Queen in the “handler” of night time pop culture comic relief. Handler the female pop culture comic,  also provides a comic’s platform and umbrella for the LGBT, various ethnic, race and gender related comical aspects of lifestyle comedy. Although Chelsea Handler has made a huge dent and cracked the choices available for late night TV LOL slots, it is pretty much still a man’s world when it comes to who hosts The Tonight Show slot of late night comedy. Nonetheless Chelsea Handler has become a brand of her own dominating the younger generation mainstream of lifestyle pop culture comedy. Like the Virginia Slims slogan, “You’ve come a long way, baby”, is the reality in a world where gender politics never seems to end.

Chelsea Lately is a late night half hour of sarky, SOL(speaking out loud) what’s up and deep, deep down in your
mind, blunt, honest, fearless, trashy, gutsy, heavyweight, light-headed, tipsy with mean sober bouts and silly snippets of outrageous scissor cut pop culture humour. It features Chelsea and her guests in a verbal tennis match of tough, raw, fashionably politically incorrect bullet punch serves of comic exchange.
The exchange is quick, naked with colloquial abbreviated and emphatic contractions of punctuated humour ending with figurative exclamations, quotations, question marks and periods ….followed by sporadic bursts of laughter from the audience.

This kind of humour is what I call, “Punctuated, Punchtuated Humour”, characterized by shock punches after punctuated punch lines. Digitalism Art Studio Pop Art illustrations of Chelsea Handler attempt to visually present “Punctuated, Punchtuated Humour “. Digitalism Art Studio Pop Art illustrates the Punctuations such as the quotation mark, question mark, exclamation and the period designed with a twist of Chelsea Handler humour in mind.

When I first watched Chelsea Handler doing her late night TV comedy show, I found her comic delivery style as one of pure, full strength toxic comic shock effect. Definitely not your regular household comedy show.
Her commentary style was beyond tongue-in-cheek with sarcastic comic reviews of herself, her single lifestyle and of celebrities in today’s pop culture. Only Chelsea Handler could come up with her latest book title, Uganda Be Kidding Me. The book hit the New York Times best sellers list in 2014 for the combined print and E- book Non Fiction category.

Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 6

For those of us who need an art and writing journal tool combined in one, Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 6 is ideal.
Often when I have an idea i like to express it using both art and text. I used to sketch the idea on paper with a pen.

Now having the Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 6, digital expression of art and writing are very well combined, and also
instantaneously web ready. The pictures i see in my imagination need to be transcribed digitally. So with the Autodesk
Sketchbook Pro 6 when an idea comes to mind, i can sketch and write notes as a starter base for future art works
or quick doodles and jotting down thoughts. The Autodesk Sketchbook Pro has a very good assortment of
brushes, textures.shapes along with a color wheel and a copic library of tones well equipped for design and illustration.
The tools provided in Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 6 are also designed for speed and quick expression of your drawings.
You can import images, have layers allowing multi – media utilization. The software Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 6 has tools
for symmetry for both x and y axis uniformity making it ideal for cartoon character illustration and a quick formation
of an imaginary figure brought to reality on your canvas. It is ideal for storyboard creation. With familiarization and
practice of using the many textures, shapes, tones colours available, one can design imaginary and futuristic objects from
the design concept to the proto type. Using Autodesk Sketchbook Pro 6. for my Digitalism Art Studio pop art show of Chelsea Handler,  literally allows my art style of Digitalism to flow freely and yes it makes you feel like
The world is waiting for you to draw it !!
