Fish Or Bird
Their love swirled a cloud
in shape of a heart
from the deep seas
to high skies
divided by land
this heart was alone
The bird looked into the water
her love mirrored beside her
together only in reflection.
Their destiny
only a reflection.
The fish like a bird with no wings
the bird like a fish out of water.
Their destiny together
only in reflection
divided by land
divided by water.
Then one day the fish took for the wings
while his bird lay on the shore waiting.
Like a fish out of water
her hopeful tears
a river for him
cast under her wings
In refuge their second splits
into swift flight
They were salt of the earth
past the sun’s fire
purified as one
in the fight for freedom
they were heroes of love.
Bone to Bone
feather to fins
scales of time
the fossil remains.
Was i once a fish
or was i a bird?
I have left the sky
I have left the waters
I have left land.
Time dissolves but the question
remains.
What matters
through the swirl of a cloud?
I have left in peace
bringing no harm
only the rains of joy.
